2009SS Milan Mens Fashion Week Sneak Review Part 2

Gucci

Alexander McQueen

Neil Barrett

2009SS Milan Mens Fashion Week Sneak Review Part 1

Jil Sander

Costume National

Fashion Wire 2008/06/19-20

Memo Pad: Changes At The Top... News International To Close Magazines Division... (WWD)
 Hearst Corp. Jack Kligerは新設の"strategic relationships for the company"を担当する会長職に退くようです。

In Brief: Lauder Names Landau... McDonald Retirement... (WWD)
 Este Lauder Cos.

Tory Burch Bolsters Exec Ranks (WWD)

Bob Dakin Joins Up With Warnaco (WWD)
Talbots Inc.のJ.

Avra Myers Tapped at J. Jill (WWD)

Karen Murray Promoted at VF (WWD)
 VF Corp. Karen Murrayは、Nautica Men's Sportswear及びNautica Jeans Co.のpresidentとして昨年9月にVF Corp.

Second Scents (British Vogue)

Fashion Scoops: View From The Top... Wedding Belle... (WWD)

Memo Pad: Just Super... Older ― But Slower... (WWD)

Fashion Scoops: A Stone's Throw... Quilting Bee... (WWD)

HSN and Patricia Field (WWD)
"Sex and the City"のスタイリストとして一躍有名になったPatricia Fieldですが、テレビ通販のHSN限定販売のコラボレーションで"Destination Style New York"というブランドをローンチするというお話。

Game, Set And Style (British Vogue)

Today's Wire 2008/06/17-18 (Fashion/Mode)

In Brief: Asprey's Moves... Letter On China... Hosiery Hookup... (WWD)

Diesel to Work With Jewelry Designer Cacciatore (WWD)

Ballantyne's New Direction (British Vogue)

A Lang Time Coming (British Vogue)
Alles Gleich Schwer" ("All has Equal Weight"の意)と題された個展は、Frank-Thorsten MollとNeville Wakefieldのキュレーションにより、Hanover Goes Fashionのイベントの一環として、8月31日から11月2日まで開催される予定。

Pretty Explosive (British Vogue)

E-Tales: Online Rush... Enviable Position... (WWD)

Memo Pad: Moving On Up... A New Entertainment... (WWD)

Fashion Wire 2008/06/16

Fashion Scoops: Fashion's Honor Roll... Rodeo Honors Blahnik... Lopez Exits St. John... (WWD)
OBE(Officer of the Civil Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire)に列せられることになったというお話。

Memo Pad: New Sophisticate... Band On The Run... New Hires... (WWD)
デザイナー本人の "They are used to playing characters and go deeper into the image. There's definitely a celebrity effect when you shoot an actress.

Magazine Patrol: GQ JAPAN July 2008

Rest In Peace, Yves Saint Laurent

"I always served women and I did it without compromise until the end, with respect and love."

Pierre Bergé, Saint Laurent’s partner since 1967
“Chanel gave women freedom. Yves Saint Laurent gave them power. He was a libertarian, an anarchist and he threw bombs at the legs of society. That’s how he transformed society and that’s how he transformed women.”

French President Nicolas Sarkozy
“He was convinced that beauty was a necessary luxury for all men and all women.”

Jack Lang, former French Minister of Culture
“There is a before and after Yves Saint Laurent.”

François Lesage, master couture embroiderer
“I have never known a designer who would give so much thought to something when it was proposed to him. It is a great grief for me.”

Francisco Costa, Calvin Klein designer
“Mr. Saint Laurent revolutionised modern fashion with his understanding of youth, sophistication and relevance. His legacy will always be remembered.”

Sarah Jessica Parker
“He left an extraordinary and singular legacy. I’m grateful for the time he gave us.”

François Pinault, founder and former CEO of the fashion group PPR
“Yves Saint Laurent invented everything, revisited everything, transformed everything to the service of a passion, to let woman shine and to free her beauty and mystery.”

Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of the luxury group LVMH
“Monsieur Saint Laurent embodied a half-century of French Haute Couture. His humility was the mark of his genius.”

French Prime Minister François Fillon
“He was an artist of genius who turned the sober dinner jacket into a symbol of French elegance.”

Former French President Jacques Chirac
“He will remain in our memories as an emblem of allure and distinction, like an ambassador having honored, the whole of his life, the tradition of French couture.”

Christine Albanel, former Minister of Culture and Communications
“He was the elegant partner to our daily lives, the master of the ‘Rive Gauche’ lifestyle, a symbol of luxury and beauty throughout the world. He remained provocative and free, firmly on the side of liberating women and he directed the fashion of his times.”

Oscar de la Renta
“He just had an extraordinary eye for a fantasy that every woman wanted to be a part of. Just come to Annette’s closet. All the dresses are still hanging there.”

Marc Jacobs
“He’s my big fashion hero and always has been and it’s really sad that he’s gone. Saint Laurent was the first to look at youth and street culture and take elements and make them chic. I and a couple of friends always say, ‘How would Saint Laurent do it?’ It’s a little, funny gauge of a thing being right, a kind of standard for chic, for youth, for sex appeal without vulgarity and overall beauty.”

Jean-Paul Gaultier
“In his work, I find the energy to do my work. He gave us glamour, he loves women ― and he opened a lot of doors for fashion. What we are all doing is because of Saint Laurent. We all love him, and he knows that.”

Diane von Furstenberg
"I'm very sad. Saint Laurent, he was a great designer. He made women feel like women. He inspired so many people. He was a great artist. He was really important and influential, and it's very sad."

Maria Cornejo
"He really was an original. I think he's got such a legacy, especially of the French houses, you know. None of them have French designers except for Balenciaga. And [Saint Laurent] was the one that lasted the longest and had an identity and such a legacy."

Valerie Steele, director, the Museum at Fashion Institute of Technology
"Well, after Chanel, he was the most influential designer of the twentieth century. He totally changed the way people dressed repeatedly. Repeatedly, he reconfigured fashion―inventing the look of women in trouser suits for day and for night. After Poiret, he was the major exponent of exoticism in fashion. He was the greatest colorist of fashion."

Robert Burke, principal, Robert Burke Associates
"I remember the couture shows in Paris when I first started going.… Mostly I remember the team of people he put together―Loulou de la Falaise, Pierre Bergé. It was a very unique time in fashion. It was completely about creativity and beauty."

Jack McCollough
"He just has such a long heritage. How old was he when he started at Christian Dior? Twenty-one? I love that picture of him on the balcony with all the reporters. He was so fresh and so young. He just had such a long career."

Simon Doonan, creative director, Barneys New York
"I'm devastated. All my Saint Laurent memories came flooding back of those incredible shows where half the audience were clients. You'd never get that today.… He managed to be creative but also in the French vernacular. So that's why women loved his clothes. He really showed people how to take influences in very explicit ways. If he was having a cigarette-girl moment or Chinese moment or a Russian moment, he was very explicit. It wasn't diluted. It was kind of courageously full-on."

Michael Kors
"I don't think that any woman realizes how much in her closet started out being Saint Laurent. You know, you could live in Zimbabwe and never read a fashion magazine, but you could have in your closet Saint Laurent or something inspired by [him]. I think he was really the first designer who understood modern life―a woman who was on the move and powerful and sexy."

Dries Van Noten
"I remember having seen the old exhibition. I think it was in the early eighties, here at the Metropolitan. I just came out of fashion school and it made a huge impression on me. I bought a catalog, and I still look often at that catalog because it's something which really formed me as a designer―the use of color, the use of shape, and the use of referencing to a source of inspiration in a very specific way but also quite obvious.… It always will be a big inspiration."

Fashion Wire 2008/05/30-06/02

Ads Capture Facchinetti's Vision for Valentino (WWD)

Equity Group, Goldman Sachs Arm Acquire H2O Plus (WWD)

Yoox Eyes First Half '09 for IPO (WWD)

Fashion Scoops: Three's A Crowd… Sport Morphs At St. John… Talking Cavalli… (WWD)
Robert Lee Morris for Elizabeth and James"とそのまんまですが。

Man Down (British Vogue)

Patrick Cox Sold (British Vogue)

Memo Pad: Was It As Good As The First Time?... Women's Movement... Out The Door... (WWD)

Zero Hour (WWD)

Southern Style: Kristin Davis Does Line for Belk (WWD)
Sex and the CityのCharlotte York役で知られるKristin Davisが南部を中心に店舗を展開しているBelk Inc.と組んで自身の名を冠したベタープライスのラインをローンチするというお話。 In the South, there is a feminine quality that often gets lost in high fashion.

J.C. Penney's John Irvin Retires (WWD)

Tom Ford's BG Space (WWD)

Elie Tahari Launches Costume Jewelry Line (WWD)
